Solland Solar

History

Gosse Boxhoorn, Hubert Thijs and Jan-Willem Hendriks considered the possibility of setting up a new company after the only Dutch solar cell manufacturing facility was closed down in the spring of 2003. They wanted to maintain the know-how of cell technology and cell production in the Netherlands. Six months later, Solland Solar Energy B.V. was registered. By the end of 2004 the financial arrangements had been completed and construction work began on the factory.
Production began in September 2005 with a capacity of 20 MWp per year. Following the addition of the second production line, the present capacity is 60 MWp per year. In 2008 capacity will be increased to 170 MWp per year. Solland’s ambitious growth plans will lead to a capacity of 500 MWp per year by 2010.
